Fmr. Rep Carolyn Maloney Posts Confused Tweet Calling Malliotakis a Democrat... From Texas?

Former New York Representative Carolyn Maloney recently shared a photo on social media capturing a moment with current Representative Nicole Malliotakis. The two were dining together at an event celebrating the 204th Anniversary of Hellenic Independence.
In her post accompanying the photo, Maloney expressed her joy in celebrating Greek Americans and highlighted Greece's importance as an ally to the United States.
However, the celebratory post contained a couple of notable inaccuracies.
First, Maloney referred to her dining companion, Representative Malliotakis, as a Democrat from Texas. In fact, Representative Malliotakis is a Republican who represents New York's 11th congressional district, covering Staten Island and parts of South Brooklyn.
Additionally, the tweet mentioned the event took place in Astoria, Queens. This detail was also incorrect. As pointed out by Politico reporter Jeff Coltin and later confirmed on Twitter by State Senator Mike Gianaris, the celebration was actually held at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in Manhattan.
